Conditorum, the 2nd of 2761 Ludi Decennales
The Ludi Conditorum is the second set of games in the tenth anniversary year series of games, designated as Ludi Decennales. We invite you to take part in and enjoy each and every contest, and to celebrate each Ludi and Festival in the spirit of the ancient Romans!
Conditorum Highlights
These Conditorum ludi, or Games of the Founders, may be the more important among the Decennales, these games that our aedilitas curulis has willed organizing to celebrate Nova Roma 10th year.
This importance will then come from the date itself : the Conditorum will begin before and end after a central day which is the one when Nova Roma has been created : the Kalends of March 2751 a.u.c..
Conditorum highlights will be, in our mind, the following ones :
- first the number of literary contests proposed to Novaromans : three!
- second the special race organized for Equirria, a festival that ancient Romans did like, and which is someway the parallel with the one of Equus October's one
- third the special thema of the Certamen historicum proposed : Nova Roma and its young history.
- fourth, as for Lupercalenses, but maybe more, the close relation between the Ludi and the religions, through the concerned Gods and the ceremonies, but also the public celebration, by the consuls, of this important days spec. 1st March (Matronalia).
Our ludi golden rule: one day, one god, one ludus
The golden rule that we have tried to follow at best for this whole year, so for our Conditorum Games is to place every day under the patronage of at least one god. We will see that, specially for these Founders Ludi, we have the chance being protected, at the same time, by several gods. For example, the 1st of March will offer us at the same time the support of the god who watch on every month begining, the one who cares specially on Kalends of March, added to the one whom the month is dedicated, in addition to the god honored by special dedication. One ludus, last, per day, with the same positive exception : we may have more than one game event, but we will at least have one sport or cultural event every ludus dies.
These three elements will thus guarantee at the same time full interesting gaming programs, but also a due relation to Roman gods and goddesses, which had a full place in every Roman's life, up to everyone, naturally to feel close to them or not, to neglect or to praise them, etc., as in every society.
