"Key paths" are the main guideposts through our material. These documents are considered part of the Key Path:

To-do items are highlighted.

The purpose of this task force is to improve the accuracy and usability of the key paths in all languages.
  • The key paths should be an accurate representation of Nova Roma positions.
  • They should also provide a usable interface to the website contents for new users.

Step by step plan:

  • Improve infrastructure to make things easier to maintain in the future. (Agricola will do most of this.)
  1. General review of Main Page (English) content. Please add comments to the discussion page.
  2. Update all Main Pages, starting with things that appear only on Main Pages.
  3. Update the main "portals"; summaries and links.

Task Force Steps

Infrastructure

I will handle most of this, needing help with translation of template boilerplate language. Agricola

Template:Include summary

This template will pull in an article and provide a globalized link to the article. The target article should have a set of "onlyinclude" tags around the summary head matter to prevent the entire article from being imported. Example of this template in use:

Nova Roma is an international organization dedicated to the study and restoration of ancient Roman culture. From its founding until it ceased to be the center of Imperial authority Rome laid the foundation for our modern Western civilization. Founded 2,750 years after the Eternal City itself, Nova Roma seeks to bring back those golden times, not through the sword and the legions, however, but through the spread of knowledge and through our own virtuous example. This template needs to have the "More..." tag put into these languages: DE RO.

This template is now in use on all Main Pages in the "Res Publica" section.

Basic categories for each language (DONE)

"Nova Roma" and "Roma Antiqua" categories now exist for each national language. "ES:Nova Roma" is the category for all Spanish articles related to Nova Roma, for example. This provides a second navigation path through the category tree, starting with Category:Master Index.

Main Page

LATÍNÉ - DEUTSCH - ESPAÑOL - FRANÇAIS - ITALIANO - MAGYAR - PORTUGUÊS - ENGLISH

Category

Each Main Page is in Category: Master Index.

Language Bar and Page Name

The canonical link between all Main Pages is via Template:LanguageBar using the name "Main Page". When a national language Main Page has a different title, a "redirect" in the namespace connects the name "Main Page" to the national language title.

The Main Page in each namespace can be moved to another name, but keep "Main Page" in the LanguageBar template. This will maintain the interpage links.

Elements

Please review the English Main Page and put any comments about the content on the discussion page.

The Main Page consists of a number of elements:

  1. Material included from the heads of the national language versions of these articles:
    1. Res publica Novae Romae
      1. In each namespace, the CURRENTYEAR function, plus a redirect to the same namespace article with the Roman numeral AUC date, provides an automatically updated link to the magistrates page. The redirects can be made any time in advance of the change of year.
      2. Template:Calendar which links to the current Fasti and jumps to the current month.
    2. Cultus deorum Romanorum
    3. Civic life (Nova Roma)
    4. Via Romana
  2. Template:Current Events Shortlist which uses special functions to provide the correct language on each page.
  3. A random daily photo selected from NovaRoma:DailyPhotoData (Gallery: Category:Main page). The photo with localized caption is provided by a set of templates that are generated automatically. Edit NovaRoma:DailyPhotoData to change or translate captions.
Template:DailyPhoto - Template:LA:DailyPhoto - Template:DE:DailyPhoto - Template:ES:DailyPhoto - Template:FR:DailyPhoto - Template:HU:DailyPhoto - Template:IT:DailyPhoto - Template:PT:DailyPhoto
