The Nova Roman Legionary Children's Summer Camp of Pannonia was held every year since Fr. Apulo C. Laenate cos. MMDCCLVIII a.u.c. except in P. Memmio K. Buteone (II) cos. MMDCCLXIII a.u.c. when it had to be cancelled due to technical reasons. It was held in two locations at the same time in two different years. The camp is always organized by one of our affiliated legions, originally by the Legio XXI Rapax (maintained by the Gladius Association), later by the Cohors VI Carpathica (run by the Colonia Rostallo Foundation). In the recent years, the camp is held in cooperation with the famous Aquincum Museum as the museum's educational summer camp for children. The determining, common features of all these camps is that they are always held (primarily) for the historical education and physical training of children or adolescents, by one of the legionary units of Nova Roma in Pannonia.

The origin of these camps goes back to the foundation by M. Caecilius Metellus Tocaiensis, tribune of the Legio XXI Rapax and the Ancient History Camps of the Rapax before its merger into Nova Roma: the Legio XXI Rapax, not a Nova Roman legion yet, held camps in K. Buteone T. Labieno cos. MMDCCLVI a.u.c. and Cn. Salvio Cn. Equitio cos. MMDCCLVII a.u.c., as well, but those cannot be considered part of the series of the Nova Roman Legionary Children's Summer Camp of Pannonia. The first camps held within Nova Roma were presided by the legatus pro praetore of Pannonia, Cn. Cornelius Lentulus, currently the camps are held under the presidency of the praefectus cohortis VI Carpathicae et Regionis Rostallonensis C. Villius Macro Carbo.

Since the heroic and fruitful, but very basic and amateurish starts (for example, in the first years the legionary equipment could only be made of cardboard), the camp evolved into a very serious reenactment experience in cooperation with the leading Roman archaeology museum of Hungary.
