The Provincia of Lacus Magni in Nova Roma comprises the states of Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio and Kentucky. The name of the province "Lacus Magni" means Great Lakes, as lacus means "lake" or "pool," and magni (from magnus) means "great" or "large," often referring to the North American Great Lakes (from the perspective of Rome), and reflects the typical Roman practice of naming larger administrative territories based on their relative position to rivers, mountains etc.
