SCROLL II ~ The Annals of Lucius Sinicius Drusus
compiled by L. Vitellius Triarius from provincial and other sources within the Res publica
a.d. VIII Kal. Mar. ‡ M. Curiatio M. Iulio cos. ‡ MMDCCLXII a.u.c. | (22 Feb 2009 CE)
Lucius Sicinius Drusus was confirmed by the Senate as the second Propraetor America Austrorientalis on a.d. XIV Kal. Sext. ‡ Fl. Vedio (II) M. Cassio (II) cos. ‡ MMDCCLIV a.u.c. | (19 Jul 2001 CE) and served until a.d. V Non. Mar. ‡ K. Buteone T. Labieno cos. ‡ MMDCCLVI a.u.c. | (3 Mar 2003 CE).
L. Sicinius Drusus became a Roman citizen a.d. V Kal. Ian. ‡ Q. Maximo M. Minucio cos. ‡ MMDCCLIII a.u.c. | (28 Dec 2000 CE). A proponent of close adherence to Roman practice (though he was sometimes criticized as applying this principle inconsistently in practice), he became a significant public figure and a prominent member of the group which called itself the boni. Though he never secured election to any magistracy, he was influential among his political allies and drafted a number of legislative proposals, and became a senator M. Octavio L. Sulla (II) cos. ‡ MMDCCLV a.u.c. | (2002 CE).
Early in the year Cn. Salvio Cn. Equitio cos. ‡ MMDCCLVII a.u.c. | (2004 CE) he was the subject of a nota issued by censores K. Fabius Quintilianus and M. Octavius Germanicus. This nota was subsequently withdrawn. It later emerged that this was the result of a negotiated deal in which, for his part, L. Sicinius had sworn (among other things) not to attend meetings of the senate for nine months and to "remain civil and courteous" in public fora. He also agreed to suffer expulsion from Nova Roma if he breached the agreement. Later that year he was accused of breaking this agreement, but the consul Cn. Equitius Marinus rejected calls for him to expel L. Sicinius, ruling that the agreement was a contract in private law and could only be enforced by an ordinary action by a party to the contract. The matter was never brought to court, but L. Sicinius has not participated in public life since.
L. Sicinius was removed from the senate by the censores prid. Kal. Ian. ‡ Fr. Apulo C. Laenate cos. ‡ MMDCCLVIII a.u.c. | (31 Dec 2005 CE).
During his tenure in Public Life, L. Sinicius served as a Senator from prid. Non. Dec. ‡M. Octavio L. Sulla (II) cos. ‡ MMDCCLV a.u.c. | (4 Dec 2002 CE) to prid. Kal. Ian. ‡Fr. Apulo C. Laenate cos. ‡ MMDCCLVIII a.u.c. | (31 Dec 2005 CE), Propraetor of Provincia America Austrorientalis from Fl. Vedio (II) M. Cassio (II) cos. ‡ MMDCCLIV a.u.c. | (2001 CE) to K. Buteone T. Labieno cos. ‡ MMDCCLVI a.u.c. | (2003 CE), and Pontifex from Fl. Vedio (II) M. Cassio (II) cos. ‡ MMDCCLIV a.u.c. | (2001 CE) to K. Buteone Po. Minucia cos. ‡ MMDCCLIX a.u.c. | (2006 CE).
Other posts L. Sinicius held were Lictor Curiatus from Cn. Salvio Cn. Equitio cos. ‡ MMDCCLVII a.u.c. | (2004 CE) to K. Buteone Po. Minucia cos. ‡ MMDCCLIX a.u.c. | (2006 CE), Accensus from M. Octavio L. Sulla (II) cos. ‡ MMDCCLV a.u.c. | (2002 CE) to K. Buteone T. Labieno cos. ‡ MMDCCLVI a.u.c. | (2003 CE).
