SENATUS CONSULTUM STATUS INFORMATION
This senatus consultum is currently IN FORCE.
Preamble. As the res publica requires strong and visible leadership in Italia in the next year, and as D. Aurelius Ingeniarius, praetor, will be present there and has expressed willingness to represent the interests of Nova Roma in person, the Senate acknowledges the necessity of granting an extraordinary dispensation to allow him the chance to serve. The lex Tullia annalis establishes age requirements for the consulship, but the Senate, by its authority, may grant exemption in exceptional cases for the good of the res publica.
The Senate, mindful of its duty to ensure the effective leadership of Nova Roma and recognizing the special circumstances of the coming year, therefore decrees:
I. That D. Aurelius Ingeniarius, praetor, is hereby granted exemption from the age requirements of the office of consul, as set forth in the lex Tullia annalis.
II. That he shall therefore be permitted to stand as a candidate for the consulship in the elections of the present year, held under the consulship of P. Aurelius Barbatus and C. Flavius Constantinus Aeneas Stilicho.
III. That this exemption is valid only for the present year and shall not be construed as a permanent alteration of the lex Tullia annalis or as precedent beyond these circumstances.
