Biography
Q. Metellus joined Nova Roma in C. Cethego Q. Arrio (IV) cos. ‡ MMDCCLXXVI a.u.c. and is from Provincia America Transmississippiana. His passion for classical studies started at a young age, when he was gifted a copy of Livy’s "Ab urbe condita". It was through this important work that he was exposed to the rich world of the ancient Romans. The aspects that most impress him about the Romans are the following: their adherence to the ancestral mores; their rhetorical skill; their complex mechanisms of government; the resolute architecture; their famous military advancements; and their detailed religious and cultural traditions. Q. Metellus is most interested in the historical period of the Middle to Late Roman Republic and is a steadfast believer in Roman republican principles.
On an academic level, Metellus holds a bachelor's degree in management. He's currently pursuing a graduate business degree at Harvard University. Harvard's library enables him to pursue scholarly classics research on an independent basis. Furthermore, he's a member of the Society for Classical Studies, the Society for the Promotion of Roman Studies, and the Association of Ancient Historians. It’s through these organizations that he's interacted with some of the finest scholars, progressing his own learning. To better discern primary sources, he's committed himself to learning Latin in his downtime. His goal is to one day pursue formal studies in classics to serve as a final educational benchmark.
On a professional level, Metellus works as a management and logistics consultant for several large clients. In his capacity as a consultant, his objectives are to connect with international clients and business partners effectively, efficiently, and courteously. He regularly tackles technical reports that convey process recommendations regarding a client’s existing business infrastructure—including improvements, solutions, and updates. Regular e-mail correspondence is also customary, and he ensures different individuals are updated on the status of current issues, informed of the time frame of any process changes, and updated on any new training requirements that may arise after a process change.
Q. Metellus is considered to be one of the finest new citizens and magistrates in Nova Roma. He seeks to assist fellow Nova Romans in whatever capacity he can. As a result, he can be contacted via email or on all major Nova Roman social media platforms (Groups.io, Facebook, and Discord) to answer general questions, take feedback, check citizenship status, update discord roles, and edit the website. He welcomes messages from citizens (both prospective and current) and wants to be in service to the res publica.
"What an impressive thoroughly Roman and most qualified candidate! If only we had dozens of people in Nova Roma like Q. Caecilius Metellus Macedonicus! Q. Caecilius Metellus Macedonicus represents for me the very essence of Nova Romanitas, and I wish to cheer for him from the first line for every steps he makes in his, hopefully, long and glorious cursus honorum! Fellow citizens, we must have him as a jewel in the magistracy, and by all means, please support his candidacy, but first learn about his intellect and talents that comes through from his introductory speech."
