Call for candidates on election page

I added again, but now in a sorter version, of what was there previously, because I beleieve that we can not say something enough times: the more repetition the better. And especially newer people must be informed in a quick, visible, and transparent way what office should they run for. The "candidacy banner" will be removed right when the time of accepting candidacies (16 Dec.)expires, so the "candidacy banner" is just a temporary element, not a permanent part of the page. Election page will contain only election data from 16th December. --Gnaeus Cornelius Lentulus 13:26, 12 December 2011 (CET)

I was afraid by the content you wrote and still afraid. Based of it, one who hold a magistracy will believe is enough and will jump from vigintisexvir to censor or from quaestor to consul to give you a few examples. I know our laws permit that, because were wrote in a period of high citizens number and when elections were really a challenge, but currently will result in candidacies without a base in mos maiorum. .Titus Iulius Sabinus 15:17, 12 December 2011 (CET)
Now I understand you. I am one of the people who worries about mos majorum the most, but as I see our current circumstances, I would be glad to vote for a former vigintisexvir to become consul or praetor right now if he is ready to work. But my opinion is not relevant here, at all. The voters will decide if the candidate is worthy to be elected based on his qualifications, but they can decide only if there are multiply choices to elect from. --Gnaeus Cornelius Lentulus 17:26, 12 December 2011 (CET)
Ah...current circumstances. I don't see the things this way. I am sure will have enough candidates for offices and many will be challenged. I can bet, metaphoric speaking. You see, pages have specific function. For me the function of this page was to provide the elections frames. Technically speaking.Titus Iulius Sabinus 18:51, 12 December 2011 (CET)
The mailing list and other lists are the best places to say enough times with the amendment I still receive answers for census which bring me in conclusion we have citizens who read their NR emails once at three months.Titus Iulius Sabinus 15:17, 12 December 2011 (CET)
This is something that I was talking about in the censorial office. Communication reform is needed. Citizens should be contacted directly in their mailboxes, not via mailinglists. Most of the people hate mailinglists. I know a lot of active NR people who are interested in NR news, but will refuse to subscribe to mailinglists because they are not interested in chit-chat or debates. Most of the citizens would like to get an events-news notifcation. The Announcements List was never a good solution because it contained huge amounts of edicts and politics. But this is now going to become another discussion. --Gnaeus Cornelius Lentulus 17:26, 12 December 2011 (CET)
I agree with that. I wish to have such automatic tool during the census. Well, from theory to practice is difference however.Titus Iulius Sabinus 18:51, 12 December 2011 (CET)

Deletion

Salve, Sabine, amice carissime!

I would like to call your attention that there are now a lot of pages to be deleted. Cura, ut valeas! --Gnaeus Cornelius Lentulus 19:27, 28 October 2008 (CET)

Declaratia Noii Rome

Salve, amice! I see you changed the Romanian Declaration, but the previous version was more correct translation, because the English text say:

We, the Senate and People of New Rome,

And Niger's translation was adherent to this:

Noi, Senatul si Poporul Noii Rome,

So in this sentence I think the previous is more correct translation, not?

Vale! --Gnaeus Cornelius Lentulus 09:53, 12 September 2008 (CEST)

  • Salve! Yes, I saw now that in this part of the sentence is wrote New Rome. Ad literam, Nova Roma is translated in RO as Noua Roma which is similar with the English New Rome.Titus Iulius Sabinus 10:53, 12 September 2008 (CEST)

Daily photo captions

Thank you for adding RO translations to the daily photo. The translation of the current photo caption will become visible the next time that photo is used. It is because a photo template for each language is generated automatically each day. I also noticed that the RO main page is getting the IT photo template Template:IT:DailyPhoto, and I don't understand that at all. If caption.RO is missing, it should use caption.EN Agricola 04:18, 12 September 2008 (CEST)

I checked. The script has not been updated to do the RO captions. I'll ask Gracchus for help. Agricola 04:53, 12 September 2008 (CEST)
Salve! OK. Thanks. I tried to find the RO photo template but without results.Titus Iulius Sabinus 10:53, 12 September 2008 (CEST)

Comments

Salve! Very nice, but I want to avoid using pixel sizes. 50px is big now, but soon 50px will be small. Lets try to use relative sizes, for example percents or the CSS words "large" or "Larger" or even "x-large". Also, we can use "em-units" for side padding. 1em is about 1 character wide. For a half-em space use "0.5em" and so on. I use px when I want to set something to zero, though, since "0px" seems to work well and is easy to understand.

Try to avoid top padding or margins on the main frame, since that just leaves blank space at the top and I think we want to avoid that. If you want to set different sizes, you can do that in this order: Top-Right-Bottom-Left. "Padding:0px 1em 0.5em 1em" has no top padding, 1em on the left and right and half an em at the bottom.

How does this look in your system? I tried to fix the font cut off problem but I am just guessing as I never see that particular problem myself. The horizontal line marks the page top.

-: Salve, amice. I understand your reasons when wanting to avoid using pixel sizes. You are correct. That version in which I used pixel size was to show you, as exemple, which is my vision about the page graphic balance design. In my sistem all looks ok, now.

Excellent!
