An excellent way to absorb the Romanitas and education about ancient Rome that Nova Roma provides is to volunteer in our society! The best way to learn is by "doing". Nova Roma does not just "happen to you" - you need to actively participate and interact with fellow citizens. The various voluntary employment and interactive opportunities are accessible to all citizens globally and can boost your understanding of Nova Roma and ancient Roman governance and civic life.

Whether you are a new citizen looking to learn about Nova Roman society or a long-time citizen hoping to grow your status and Roman career, there is a wide variety of opportunities suitable for all citizens.

The list below on this page displays all known advertised positions in Nova Roma. This list may not be exhaustive and opportunities may also be displayed on other pages (i.e provincial employment opportunities). Please encourage your magistrate or appointed official to post employment opportunities to this page.

Upon finding a role you are interested in, please contact the designated point-of-contact listed. Some roles may require an audio or video interview. Some roles, such as apparitores working for central Nova Roman magisterial departments, may also require you to have paid your Nova Roman taxes prior to appointment.

Note: Obtaining a ceremonial tribal appointment requires election by your fellow citizens in your ceremonial tribe. You must join the dedicated Curiae forum to be eligible.

Album of the Lictores Curiati - A specific list of the Lictores Curiati, a type of ceremonial tribal officer with duties in the Comitia Curiata.

Note: These appointments require a citizen to be a real practitioner of the cultus deorum. Priesthoods can only be applied for through application to the the Collegium Pontificum.

Censorial Scribe (Scriba Censorius)	An important position to help process new citizen applications. Praetorian Guard (Praetorianus Officialis)	This is a military position. The Cohortes Praetoriae are the tools of consular, praetorian oversight of internal security and law enforcement, as well as a tool for special officers with grant of imperium. The Cohortes Praetoriae are presidential guards of the Nova Roman Republic, working directly for the implementation of the policies and visions of the consuls and praetores, the presidential magistrates of Nova Roma, and of all officers who have been granted equivalent imperium. The praetoriani shall be the personal guards of the imperium bearing officers and essentially a complementary force to their lictors, filling the same role in a large extent. Workload will vary but might consist of enforcing policy, soliciting outcomes and objectives from various officials and citizens, as well as research into legislation.	Starting at 10 CP activity points, (on appointment). Increases based on promotion.	Must have been a full citizen (cives optimo iure), continuously, for a minimum of 5 years. Must have served as a magistrate previously. Video interview may be required. State Vigil (Police) Officer (Vigil Forensis)	This is a military position. Embody the spirit of the early Roman police force and help patrol our virtual forums. Vigiles serving in the forums or the websites of Nova Roma are service members guarding and enforcing the rules of behavior, the code of conduct, Nova Roman law and order, and the instructions or orders of the magistrates. They have the duty to watch and report any violations or transgressions regarding the above to their chain-of-command and to the tresviri capitales. They are the primary presence that interact with the persons suspected or caught in violation. Additionally, they have the duty to help and assist individuals in the forums of Nova Roma who are in need of help regarding the use of the communication venue, or the understanding of the mechanisms of Nova Roma. As a streamer of Nova Roma's Twitch channel, you can present on any Roman-themed topic you wish. Schedule is flexible; a minimum of 2 hours streaming per month required. Website Programmer (Scriba Programmator Situs Internetualis Publici)	Until transition to a new database and website platform, Nova Roma's aging website and database needs fixes and corrections. Your role as a website programmer will be to correct current issues and implement policy changes in the Album Civium and website. Reporting directly to the curator rei informaticae, your work will be invaluable for maintaining our critical infrastructure. [edit] Officium Collegii Pontificum (Office of the College of Pontifices)

Ceremonial Tribal Officers (Curio Maximus, Tribunus, Curio, Flamen Curialis, Lictor Curiatus)	All Nova Roma citizens will also be allocated to one of three special ceremonial tribes. The officers of these old ceremonial tribes and curiae shall be responsible to motivate, assist and aid the cultic practice of the individual citizens and gentes belonging to them. They shall organize programs and celebrations to engage the citizens within the curia and to celebrate Romanitas, the sacra privata and sacra publica of Nova Roma.	Up to 6 Census Points on initial appointment for some positions. Only hold these points up to one year once leaving office.	Applicants are forbidden to hold a magistracy or governorship, because their primary focus within Nova Roma should be nothing else than the promotion of the social and religious community life of the curiales (members of the curia) in their curiae (exemptions can be granted). Applicants must be registered in the Curiae Discord server.	P. Aurelius Barbatus, curio maximus	Some positions available. Speak with your tribal community in the Curiae to find out more.
Civic Priest of Nova Roma (Sacerdos)	Become a recognised state practitioner and cultor of the Cultus Deorum Romanorum. Provide guidance to all citizens on the correct Roman reconstructionist approach to worshiping the gods. Start your public religious journey as a sacerdotal assistant (camillus, popa, pullarius, victimarius, pontifex minor etc.), then undertake research and learning into the religio Romana and graduate as a recognised sacerdos. Further higher priesthoods are available with additional research and Latin examinations.	4 Census Points on initial appointment. Increases once graduated to sacerdos. Further Census Points are on offer for higher priesthoods, once accepted by the collegium.	Applicants must have sincere religious feeling for the deity who's priesthood they wish to undertake. It is necessary that the applicant worship that deity in private life in addition to being willing to preside over public rituals on behalf of Nova Roma. Priesthood applicants have real time to devote toward advancing the worship of their chosen deity both within Nova Roma and in the outside world. This involves being available for public correspondence concerning the worship of the God or Goddess they serve, assisting others in their personal worship, working to reconstruct rites, prayers and other religious liturgy related to their deity, being available for public rites sponsored by Nova Roma, and ideally, organizing public rites/temples on their own as well. Priesthood applicants must be able to do College-level literary research to recover the historical facts of their Priesthood, and the worship of the God or Goddess they seek to serve. Applicants agree to act within a Roman reconstructionist format while acting as an official Priestess or Priest of Nova Roma. This means being as historically accurate as possible in rituals, offerings, prayers, written text, etc. Be a citizen for six months before applying for a Priesthood position.	Collegium Pontificum	Accepting applications. Note: Applications are only assessed 1-2 times a year. There is a significant waiting period to be accepted as a camillus (trainee priest).

The Collegium aims to provide a service to the Res Publica by offering subject matter expertise to magistratus and cives alike. Offering advocacy training programs and legislative editing services, the Collegium focuses discussions and legal tasking through the experience of past and present senior magistratus and officers like the decemviri stlitibus iudicandis. Broadly, the Collegium seeks to study the origins of ancient Roman law and share this with the wider community.	The college offers a concept known as "Merit Points" for contributions to the college. Upon obtaining sufficient levels of Merit Points, a citizen can gain Census Points for their permanent record.	Be a current active (cives optimo iure) citizen. Nova Roman Legal Advocate (Advocatus)	Become a legal representative of Nova Roma and represent Nova Roma citizens in matters of legal process, Nova Roman court proceedings and applications to state government. Become a practitioner of the intricacies of Nova Roman law and provide expert guidance to citizens requiring aid understanding the tabularium and Nova Roman legislation. To be recognised as an advocate, you must graduate from the Advocatus Development Program (ADP) of the college.	The college offers a concept known as "Merit Points" for completion of the Cursus Advocatorum, the Advocatus Development Program (ADP). Upon obtaining sufficient levels of Merit Points, a citizen can gain Census Points for their permanent record. 5 Cultural Census Points are also awarded upon completing the course.	Be a current active (cives optimo iure) citizen. To complete registration, you must enrol in the Collegium Iurisprudentium dedicated Discord server.	D. Be recognised in the Nova Roman community and provide legal opinion pieces, commentary and essays on matters of state and law. To be recognised as an Juristconsult, you must graduate from the Iurisprudens Development Program (IDP) of the college.
