Equitius Cato was a consular senator of Nova Roma, one of the most popular public figures and best orators in a time. He became famous for his daily calendar posts about Roman religion and history, and was generally acclaimed for his sense of humor and respect for the mos maiorum. With A. Apollonius Cordus, he was one of the most vocal proponents of the abolition of a formal "constitution" from Nova Roman law on the model of ancient Roman practice.
