Classification of magistracies
One of the magistracies of Nova Roma. There are two censores.
To stand for election as censor, a potential candidate is required to be at least 27 years old as of the effective date of office, must already have served at least six months as a consul, praetor, aedilis, quaestor, tribunus plebis, magister aranearius (formerly curator araneae), editor commentariorum (formerly curator differum), rogator, or provincial governor and must be assiduus.
The two censores:
- conduct the census of Nova Roma.
- maintain the rolls of citizens, senators, equestrians.
- approve new citizens to Nova Roma.
- approve, discipline, or remove senators of Nova Roma.
- maintain the database of century allocations, tribal alignments and make sure the laws that are related to the allocations of citizens are properly enforced.
- issue voter codes to citizens of Nova Roma.
- handle the resignations of citizens and magistrates.
- are guardians of public morality (cura morum).
