Il consolato è la più alta magistratura di Nova Roma. I due consoli sono i co-presidenti della repubblica.

Per candidarsi all'elezioone a console, ad un potenziale candidato si richiede di avere almeno 27 anni alla data effettiva di ufficio; i candidati devono avere inoltre servito almeno sei mesi come console, pretore, edile, questore, tribuno della plebe, magister aranearius (ex curator araneae), editor commentariorum (ex curator differum), rogator o governatore di provincia; devono essere assidui.
